The Vienna University of Economics and Business, first built in the 1980s, is facing a not so certain future despite grand announcements: should the building be demolished or can it possibly be renovated? And if so, how? Christoph Schwarz poses questions that go beyond the redesign of the site and the building itself.
Christoph Schwarz is an Austrian media artist and filmmaker based in Vienna. He studied visual media design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and also spent time studying conceptual art in Prague. His work is characterized by autofictional narratives, experimental setups, and a playful use of self-fulfilling prophecies, often presented through film as a primary medium. Schwarz’s projects frequently explore the complexities of media reality with humor and irony. His works have been shown in exhibitions and film festivals internationally, and he has received several awards for his films. In addition to his artistic practice, he is involved in climate activism, with themes of ecological transformation appearing in many of his works, including his feature film Sparschwein.
